Preston Pipelines specializes in commercial construction having
developed a reputation for problem solving, aggressive scheduling,
and superior professional field construction crews.
CORPORATE CAMPUS
Since 2002 Preston Pipelines has performed 11 separate projects
totaling $2 million dollars of work for Devcon Construction
at Network Appliance in Sunnyvale - from offsite infrastructure,
to parking lots and parking garages, manufacturing, and office
buildings. Preston’s ability to perform work within
a functioning corporate campus - maintaining access and critical
services to existing facilities – keeps Network Appliance
coming back to Devcon and Preston as their campus continues
to expand.
BUSINESS PARKS
McCarthy Business Park in Gilroy is a $2.7 million dollar
infrastructure project requiring storm drain, sanitary sewer,
water, and fire system facilities. Portions of this private
project intruded into the Highway 152 right of way as well
as under the existing California aquaduct, requiring Preston’s
management team to coordinate with the multiple agencies having
jurisdiction.
OFFICE
The Centennial Towers project in South San Francisco for Hathaway-Dinwiddie
sits on a rocky cliff overlooking San Francisco Bay and Highway
101. This $1.5 million dollar project is noted for the complex
high pressure underground fire line required to service a
19 story building. Preston displayed our rock excavation
capabilities, as well as our scheduling flexibility, working
crews both day and night shift, to accommodate the
space requirements of other contractors working the site.
RETAIL
Preston completed $6 million dollars of utility installations
for Petrovich Development at the Woodland Gateway Retail
Center. This project required substantial dewatering activities;
Haz Mat removal; and work within the Cal Trans right of way
for I5 and County Road 102. Essential to the success of this
project was completing a substantial portion of the project
out of sequence to meet the Owner's obligations to open Costco
by a specific date.
MANUFACTURING
When Lockheed Missiles and Space recognized that their gas
system required immediate upgrade, they called Preston Pipelines.
We have the technical skill to install fusible gas main and
services. We also take the care and have the precision to locate
unknown utilities, and work around existing systems, so manufacturing
continues despite required construction.
HOSPITALITY
The Rosewood Hotel in Palo Alto was a $3 million dollar project
set on a hillside location with soils settlement issues.
The multiple elevation changes were created by retaining
walls requiring perforated piping systems to pick up the
water captured behind the walls. Soils settlement required
that all utility connections to the buildings took place
with engineered flexible connections. Typical of hotel sites,
grease interceptors, swimming pool drainage, and fountain
services and drainage were installed. All gas and water services
in Sand Hill Road were installed with directional drilling
techniques to satisfy municipal requirements forbidding trenching
in the roadway.
